Holy Jeebus, Marist humor.

Okay, I'm giving you guys a ten. Why? Cuz I went to Marist, class of 2000, and even lived in Gartland Commons my junior year. Did they ever fix the silverfish problem there? o_O

I figured it was only a matter of time before someone from Richard Lewis' animation class found their way to this website. I wonder if he still shows my crappy old animation from 1998 to start off every semester.

For the people who have no clue - yes, Marist College is exactly like this, every day. I can't remember all the times I've seen Ethiopians running around campus. Did you know there's a notorious Poughkeepsie event from about 5 years ago where a guy was killing Po-town hookers and stashing their bodies under his bed. Good times in the city.

I'll be waiting for episode 3!

Horrid.

Holy jeebus that was bad. Let me take a guess - you saw that the "Hey Ya!" sprite movie made it to the front page, so you thought you'd give it a shot.

First of all, why the hell are there sprites in this movie that have NOTHING TO DO with Mega Man?

Second of all, you need to set your music to STREAM. It's currently on EVENT, and that's why it's not timed correctly.

Third of all... learn to use Flash before you submit a potential Turd of the Week movie, because this looks like it's heading right for the poop chute. Good luck getting you already poor credibility back after that happens...

It that's a zero all your movies are 2s.

Good job, guys!

Hey guys, great job representing with Group B of the Time Trial. I'll go through and comment for all of you.

HatterClock - I liked it, a classic concept using everyday object. the "stuttering" animation style was pulled off very well. A little disappointed that you copped out and thre in a gun. Would have been funny to see the knife and spoon duke it out. :)

J_sMoOtH - that was great! The ending is predictable, but that's okay, because the joke was set up in fine fashion. Audio's a little scratchy, but the voices are wonderful.

Freek_Sk8er - From what I understand your whole entry was not represented here, so I won't pass judgement. If you resubmit the whole thing solo, I'll throw you a review.

Seizure_Dog - That was really well done. It's a little hard to follow in some places, because all of the characters look the same, but I still managed to get the general idea and it was pulled off pretty well for a three-day project.

Dark_Drako - Looks like you might have bit off more than you could chew, trying to build and animate the whole character in limited time. A tip - you're animating too slowly. Don't be afraid to shorten up your tweens. ESPECIALLY on the bullet. I've never seen a bullet travel so slowly. :)

Good job to all!

J-Smooth responds:

Thanks Needle :)

We all appreciate the review.
You yourself did a fantastic job on representing Group A. I havent seen an original flash like that in a while.

Once again we all thank you, and really appreciate the review.

Awesome.

Wow, that was fantastic. I got a lot of laughs out of that one! Also, I want to give mad props to your sound guy. Proof that with the right soundtrack, any animated film becomes a hundred times funnier.

Awesome.

Heya DP. That was pretty sweet. I have to stop hanging out in NG chat, that whole conversation looked a little bit... too familiar. o_O

Daggum.

Now THIS is what a violent flash movie should be all about. None of that stick garbage, we've got actual characters that represent the forces of dark and light! Love your style, love your sense of humor, love the whole package. If this doesn't get an award of some sort or at least make it to the front page, it will be a travesty of justice.

Nice Movie, Wrong Technique

Now you've definitely got something goin on here. Obviously a lot of work and thought went into this flash and it works pretty well. However, the way you're using flash makes your file sizes huge and that's a turn off for a lot of the users around here (especially considering the short lengths of the episodes).

When you import all of those pixel graphics into Flash, not only do you make the file size huge but it bogs down the viewer's computer as well (read other reviews for complaints about this). The most logical step to fixing this, is to bring the pixel graphics in, trace them in Flash to make new, vector images, and then delete the underlying pixel image. Sure, it takes some time, but you're going to see smaller file sizes, faster and better performance, happier viewers, and ultimately higher scores.

Once again, everything is great storywise and the animation & direction is fantastic. It's just a matter of using Flash in a more optimal fashion.

Great Parody!

This is a great parody of Weebl's infamous "Badger" Flash. I must say, the voiceacting REALLY made this cartoon what it is. It reminded me a lot of Ben Stein, and it works great for this particular situation. I got several laughs out of this one.

Great job!

Awesome.

That was fantastic!

I love the character poses, they speak volumes and don't even require animation to get their point across. The movie itself reminds me of a lot of the Newgrounds crap I end up seeing in any day, only its sarcastic and obvious mockery of it al gave me quite a few chuckles.

The only predictable joke was when Seth noted it was great at the very end, but for the amount of laughs I got regarding the whole french dragon thing, I'll let it slide. :D

Quality.

This is some good stuff. When I was a kid I used to dreamlike that too, especially when staring out of car windows during long rides. I almost feel like as his dream sequence continues, bits of color should seep into the composition. That would have been really strong. But it still works this way, it's more of a suggestion than a criticism.

Your style is nice - I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say you're using a tablet. If you tightened up your lines a little bit, I think you'd really bring this to the next level.

I don't really know what else to say. I guess some of the more straight-minded mathematician types might not "get" it. But I'm not one of those people :)

Sundial responds:

wow, thanks. Glad you liked it. I considered the colour thing, but i really enjoyed doing all black and white. I was actually going to make it so that once he gets out of the smoke stack, it's entirely in colour, and really bright colour at that. but i changed my mind. And no, im not using a tablet. I wish i had one though. thanks for the review, man. Peace.

I created Strategy Guide in 2003, retired from Flash animation in 2005. Always pondering a comeback and never actually doing so.
